Volleyball: Raquel Kessler named SCAL player of the year

There was parity at the top of the Shelby County League standings this season, which was reflected in the all-league teams that were released on Monday.

Jackson Center junior Raquel Kessler was voted as the Shelby County Athletic League’s volleyball player of the year and was a first-team selection. Anna junior Emma Meyer, Russia senior Whitney Pleiman, Fort Loramie senior Sophia Albers, Anna junior Lexi Wells and Russia junior Laurissa Poling were also named to first team.

Anna won the league title with a 10-2 record. Russia and Fort Loramie tied for second with 9-3 records, while Jackson Center was fourth at 8-4. Botkins was fifth at 3-9, Houston was sixth at 2-10 and Fairlawn was seventh at 1-11.
