The Sidney junior high boys cross country team took first place last week in the Piqua Invitational.

The win gave the Junior Jackets their sixth win in the 10 meets they have competed in this season.

All nine runners set personal-best marks in the race, led by Patrick McClain, who was first in 10:52. He’s won half the races he’s competed in this season.

Ian Bonifas was second for Sidney and third overall in 11:15, Ben Spangler finished in 11:49, Caleb Schroer in 12:10 and Braden Guinther in 12:17.

The boys will try to win their third Greater Western Ohio Conference championship in a row today in the league meet at Centerville.

In the girls race at the Piqua Invitational, Ana Adams won her fourth race in a row and shattered her own record by winning in 12:13. Savannal Garber was 17th in 13:58.
