SIDNEY — The Lehman girls soccer team closed out regular season play with an impressive 3-0 victory over the state’s No. 7-ranked Division 2 team, Lima Bath, on Saturday to go to 11-4-1 on the season.

It was just the third loss for Bath, which is now 12-3-1.

“Bath has had a great season and we knew it would be a nice test for us heading into tournament play,” said Lehman coach Jeremy Lorenzo. “Every coach wants to finish strong and I could not have asked for a better performance from our team. We put together 80 quality minutes of play.”

Lehman’s first goal came when Grace Monnin’s shot hit the crossbar and was headed in by Kaitryn O’Leary at the 34-minute mark.

At the 26-minute mark, a cross was sent into the box and Samantha Edwards smothered a clearance attempt by a Bath defender. She then collected the ball and buried it into the back of the next for a 2-0 halftime lead.

Lehman’s final goal came from Sarah Fuller at the 25-minute mark of the second half. She picked up a loose ball and beat a Bath defender and got it past the goalie.

LHS boys win

The Lehman boys also ended on a good note, blanking West Milton 3-0 to finish the regular season 6-10.

Connor Thobe had two goals and Jake Emrick scored one. Thobe, Emrick and Trey Kerrigan all had assists.

It was Lehman’s third straight win.

“We’re finally getting healthy and our lineup is really clicking,” said coach Tom Wiseman. “The boys are working together, the scoring and effort is spread out amongst many players and we’ll see how far this recent momentum can carry us.”
