Good week for Winner at Findlay

Amanda Winner, a 5-foot-9 outside hitter and a Versailles High School graduate, had a big week in volleyball for the University of Findlay.

Just a freshman, Winner capped off her week with a 21-kill, 7-dig performance in a 3-2 loss to Lewis. Prior to that she had 10 kills in a 3-1 win over Missouri S&T and five kills and 13 digs in a 3-0 loss to Wisconsin-Parkside.

On the season, Winner is second on the team in kills with 232, and has 15 aces and 150 digs.

Findlay is 15-6 on the year.

Julie Hoying, Fort Loramie — Hoying also had a good week in volleyball. She plays at Marion in Indianapolis, and had 56 assists and four kills in a 3-1 loss to Taylor, 29 assists and 10 digs in a 3-0 loss to Mt. Vernon, and 32 assists and seven digs in a 3-0 win over Spring Arbor. A sophomore, she now has 672 assists this season.

Tori Thompson, Riverside — A senior at Ohio Dominican, Thompson had a solid pair of games in volleyball this week, with 17 kills and 19 digs in a 3-1 win over Quincy, and 14 kills and eight digs in a 3-1 win over Kentucky Wesleyan. She has 230 kills and 267 digs this season, along with 42 blocks.

Blake Steenrod, Sidney — Steenrod, a sophomore defender for Otterbein’s men’s soccer team, helped his team to a pair of wins this week. He got the assist on a late game-tying goal against Muskingum, a game Otterbein eventually won in the second overtime. And he assisted on a goal in a 6-2 win over Wilmington.

Bri Wells-Barnes, Sidney — Barnes had eight kills for Edison in a 3-0 loss to Owens Tech this week.

Rachel Noffsinger, Anna — Noffsinger continued to play well for Tennessee-Martin in volleyball. She had eight kills against Eastern Illinois and seven kills, four blocks and five digs against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.

Ellie Cain, Lehman — Cain is a teammate of Noffsinger’s at Tennessee-Martin, and had 37 assists against Eastern Illinois and 46 assists and 12 digs against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.

Andrea Thobe, Lehman — A setter for Wheeling Jesuit, Thobe had 40 assists in a win over West Virginia Wesleyan, 30 assists and 10 digs against Glenville, and 39 assists and four blocks against Clarion, all 3-0 wins.

Ashley Keller, Lehman — Keller had a big game for Bluffton in a women’s soccer match against Franklin. She had three shots on goal and two goals in a 3-2 loss, and followed that up with a goal against Defiance. She has a team-high 12 goals and 31 shots on goal this season, and also two assists.

Ashley Borchers, Russia — Borchers had another good week for Ohio Northern volleyball. She had 26 assists, 11 digs and four aces in a 3-0 win over Capital, and 31 assists, seven kills and seven digs in a 3-0 win over Heidelberg.

Meg Reineke, New Knoxville — Reineke had a huge game for Sinclair Community College in a 3-1 loss to Lorain County, finishing with 29 kills and 21 digs.

Isaac Kuntz, New Knoxville — Kuntz had a good race for Heidelberg in the Jenna Strong Fall Classic at Wilmington, finishing 28th out of 349 runners in 26:18.6.

Abby Rohrbach, New Knoxville — Rohrbach had two aces and 12 digs for Bluffton in a 3-0 loss in voleyball against Calvin this week. She also had eight digs against Hope and nine digs against Carthage. A freshman, she leads the team in ace serves with 31.

Matthew Tussing, Jackson Center — Tussing is a teammate of Kuntz’s at Heidelberg, and was 45th last week in 26:53.4 at Wilmington.

Kelly Turner, Fort Loramie — A freshman, Turner had 11 kills for Northern Kentucky in a 3-0 loss to Oakland.
