KETTERING — The Anna Lady Rockets saw their season come to an end Wednesday night in the Division 3 Regional volleyball semifinals at Kettering Fairmont in a 3-0 loss to Miami East.
The Lady Vikings controlled the action, winning the first game 25-17, the second 25-14, and then taking the third 25-18 despite Anna leading in the early stages of the match.
The loss finishes Anna’s season at 21-6. Miami East advances with a 23-4 mark to play 26-1 Newark Catholic in the regional championship on Saturday.
• In the first semifinal Wednesday night, the Versailles Lady Tigers won the first game over once-beaten Newark Catholic, but then lost the next three to see its season come to an end.
The Lady Tigers finish the season with a 12-11 record. Newark Catholic advances to Saturday’s championship game with a 26-1 record.
Tonight
The Division 4 teams take center stage tonight in action at Tipp City.
The No. 2-ranked Jackson Center Lady Tigers, 25-1, will meet neighboring rival New Knoxville, 16-9, in the first game at 6 p.m, and they will be followed by the second semifinal between defending state champion Fort Loramie, 18-8, and the Lehman Lady Cavaliers, 19-7.
The championship will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Tipp City, with the winner advancing on to the state tournament at the Nuter Center.
