SIDNEY — Sidney Police arrested a man Thursday on a rape charge for the alleged assault of a minor.
Officers and detectives from the Sidney Police Department arrested Gregory Vanausdal, 45, 635 S. Walnut Ave., on one count of rape of a minor under 13 years of age, a first-degree felony, Sgt. Rob Jameson said. Vanausdal was incarcerated in the Shelby County Jail.
The investigation into this case is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming against Vanausdal, Jameson said.
Vanausdal was arraigned in Sidney Municipal Court Friday. He remains in jail after Judge Duane Goettemoeller set a $400,000 bond. The case was continued to Feb. 1 for a preliminary hearing.
