SPENCERVILLE — A new superintendent will be named during the Dec. 19 meeting of the Spencerville school board.

Cindy Endsley will replace Dennis Fuge, who is retiring after 39 years in education, all serving Spencerville schools.

Endsley is currently the middle school principal for Anna schools.

“I am honored and very excited to be their next superintendent. I cannot wait to get started in June of 2020,” Endsley said. “The Spencerville Local Schools is one of the finest school districts in Ohio. Over the past couple of months, I have learned about the tradition of excellence that exists due to the character and work ethic of the community.”

She’s already looking forward to her new position with Spencerville schools.

“I deeply believe in a quality and comprehensive education for all students. Spencerville Local Schools has programs and staff that has and will continue to build academic and extracurricular success,” she said. “I am passionate about building healthy relationships and trust among the students, staff and residents. Over the next 6 months, I plan to learn as much as I can about the school district by working closely with the staff and community. This will allow for a smooth transition for everyone.”

Endsley is a graduate of St. Paul’s Catholic School in Norwalk.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Bowling Green State University in 1995 and her master’s of education degree from The Ohio State University in 2002. She earned his educational specialist-principalship and superintendency degrees from the University of Dayton in 2012.

“The Anna Schools are proud of Mrs. Endsley for this advancement in her career,” said Anna Local Schools Superintendent Andy Bixleer. “She is very excited about the opportunity to lead the Spencerville Schools and we wish her all the best.”

Six candidates were interviewed for the superintendent’s job. Two were called back for second interviews. Endsley was offered the position Nov. 25 and accepted it two days later.

Endsley is married to her husband, Dave, and has two children, a 20-year-old son and an 18-year-old daughter.

Endsley is passionate about seeing students achieve their dreams.

“My mission as your next superintendent is also my passion, which is to maintain and grow a rigorous teaching and learning environment. Every student will be empowered to reach their full potential intellectually, emotionally and socially,” Endsley said. “It is critical to every student’s success that they graduate from high school with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue and achieve their goals and dreams.”
