SHS German IV students make feast

SIDNEY – In what has become a Sidney High School tradition, German IV students recently celebrated their four years together as they created a German feast.

Each student researched a German food item, wrote an extended assignment and then prepared and served the dish. The class ventures far from the classic “sausage and sauerkraut” Germanic foods. The menu consisted of beef rouladen, wiener and jäger schnitzel, currywurst, knödel (dumplings), käse spätzle, maultaschen, spargel (asparagus), crepe, eierschecke, kaiserschmarrn and schwarzwaldkuchen. As the students prepared dinner, they spoke only in German.

“This class has been together for four years and this is a fantastic way to finish things off,” said teacher Mike Keiser.

SHS German IV students include Derek “Dirk” Brady, Dylan “Meszut” Vonderheuvel, Conner “Konrad” Armstrong, Bryce “Olaf” Henry, Brennen “Katja” Harvey, Reece “Leon” Dullworth, Danielle “Fritzi”Farrel, McKenzie “Big Mac” Lambdin, Lauryn Foster-Wheeler, Laney Shaw and Kyla “Kai” Elswick.
