SIDNEY — The man accused of beating his 6-week-old daughter, and her 2-year-old brother last week, was given a third charge when the Shelby County grand jury met Thursday morning.

The grand jury handed up an indictment against Allen Daniels, 21, of Sidney, including the two felonious assault charges he had already been charged with, and one count of domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor.

According to the indictment on the domestic violence charge, he is accused of “punching his 3-week-old daughter in the face, causing a black eye.”

On the first felonious assault charge he is accused of “causing serious physical injuries to his 6-week-old infant by striking her in the head with his fist and squeezing her head with his hand causing a skull fracture and bleeding on the brain.”

On the second he is accused of “causing series physical injuries to a 2-year-old child by punching him in the face, causing the child to be hospitalized.”

Daniels appeared in Sidney Municipal Court on Monday where his bond was set at $200,000. He is being held in the Shelby County Jail.

Daniels will appear in Shelby County Common Pleas Court for arraignment on the indictment on May 26 at 10 a.m.
