Daniels bond set at $200,000

SIDNEY — The man accused of beating his 6-week-old daughter, and her 2-year-old brother on May 11, was arraigned in Shelby County Common Pleas Court Thursday.

Allen Daniels, 21, of Sidney, stood mute and a not-guilty plea was entered on his behalf by the court. He has been charged with two counts of felonious assault, second-degree felonies, and one count of domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor.

According to the indictment he is accused of punching his daughter in the face, causing a black eye, and striking her in the head with his fist and squeezing her head with his hand causing a skull fracture and bleeding on the brain. He is also accused of punching his daughter’s 2-year-old brother in the face, causing him to be hospitalized.

In court Thursday, Shelby County Prosecutor Tim Sell said Daniels posed a significant threat to the community and asked for a $200,000 bond and no contact order with the victims in the case. Judge James Stevenson agreed to set the bond at the amount requested and ordered Daniels have no contact with the victims.

Daniels is currently being held in the Shelby County Jail. No other court dates have been set in his case.

Also in Shelby County Common Pleas Court Thursday, Timothy J. Huelskamp, 51, of Wapakoneta, entered a not-guilty plea to one count of stopping after accident, a felony of the third-degree.

He is accused of striking a Maplewood woman with his car on May 11 in the 10000 block of Sidney-Freyburg Road, causing her death and failing to remain at the scene until law enforcement’s arrival.

Huelskamp’s bond was continued from Sidney Municipal Court. No other court dates have been set in his case.

April Rowe, 31, of Sidney, appeared on one count of possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth-degree, and one count of trafficking in drugs, a felony of the fourth-degree. Her bond was continued from Sidney Municipal Court.

Andrew Turner, 33, of Sidney, appeared on four counts of trafficking in drugs, one, a felony of the fifth-degree, and the other’s fourth-degree. He was also charged with possessing criminal tools, with a specification, a felony of the fifth-degree. He was given an own-recognizance bond for these charges, but is serving a sentence in the Shelby County Jail for a different crime.

Rowe and Turner were originally arrested on April 29 after the Sidney and Piqua Police Departments executed a narcotics search warrant at their residence.

Nathaniel Jackson, 30, of Sidney, appeared on two counts of trafficking in drugs, one, a felony of the third-degree, and the other a fourth-degree. He was also charged with one count of possessing criminal tools, a felony of the fifth-degree.

Jeffery Jackson, 33, of Sidney, appeared on two counts of trafficking in drugs, one, a felony of the third-degree, and the other a fourth-degree. He was also charged with one count of possessing criminal tools, a felony of the fifth-degree.

They both entered not-guilty pleas and were given own-recognizance bonds in court Thursday. They were originally arrested on May 2 after the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team executed a narcotics search warrant.

Jeffrey Richmond, 43, of Sidney, appeared in court Thursday on four counts of trafficking in drugs, felonies of the fifth-degree, and one count of possessing criminal tools, a felony of the fifth-degree.

He entered a not-guilty plea and his bond was continued from Sidney Municipal Court. He was originally arrested May 4 after the Sidney Police Department executed a narcotics search warrant at his residence.
