SIDNEY — A former Ohio State Trooper and retired Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Deputy has been charged with soliciting a prostitute.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, after a lengthy investigation, Deputies arrested William J. Steinke, 70, of Sidney, on Oct. 25. He was charged with soliciting a prostitute, a misdemeanor of the 3rd degree, and possessing criminal tools, a misdemeanor of the 1st degree. Steinke was booked into the Shelby County Jail after his arrest.

Steinke will appear in Sidney Municipal Court on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016. Additional charges may be issued upon review by the Shelby County Prosecutor’s Office.
