FLETCHER — Miami County Sheriff’s Office deputies have released the name of the male driver who was killed after striking a tree in the 2600 block of Snyder Road shortly around 11:40 p.m. Saturday.

Kevin S. McMaken, 21, of Casstown, was the lone occupant of the vehicle.

Miami County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jeremy Adams said the sheriff’s crash-reconstruction team is still investigating the incident. It is undetermined if alcohol was a factor in the crash, Adams said.

The Miami County coroner ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Montgomery County Crime Lab.

According to Adams, McMaken’s vehicle was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate the sharp curves on Snyder Road shortly before midnight on Saturday.

McMaken lost control of the vehicle, which struck a tree and immediately burst into flames. The vehicle was already fully engulfed by the time the first sheriff’s deputy arrived on scene. Fletcher Fire Department responded to the scene and assisted sheriff’s officials.
