SIDNEY — Two Miami County men were arrested Thursday night after allegedly being involved in a shooting and assault incident.

According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Dustin Seiber, 21, of Troy, and Michael Butts, 28, of Piqua, were arrested in Miami County by the Troy Police and Miami County deputies in the area of Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.

Shelby County deputies were dispatched on a 911 call Thursday, Oct. 12, at 7:49 p.m. for an active physical fight in the 12000 block of Ash Drive in McLean Township.

While deputies were responding, 911 callers were reporting gun shots had been heard at the location. When deputies arrived they found a male victim with serious facial injuries from an assault.

Seiber and Butts were incarcerated into the Shelby County Jail on felonious assault charges. Additional charges are pending on all suspects and the investigation is active.

During arraignment for both men in Sidney Municipal Court Friday morning, Judge Duane Goettemoeller set a preliminary hearing for Butts on Oct. 23 at 10 a.m. Goettemoeller set a hearing for Oct. 23 at 9 a.m. for Seiber at which time a public defender will be appointed.
