NEW BREMEN — On Sept. 30,2015, eight members of the Jackson Center FFA Chapter traveled to New Bremen, Ohio, to compete in the District 5 Soil Career Development Event (CDE). Jackson Center was well represented by one team in each division, Agricultural Soils and Urban Soils.

Members of the Agricultural Soils Evaluation Team were Olivia Clark, Braden Heitkamp, Trent Platfoot and Bryce Sosby. Agricultural Soils evaluation is designed to teach students to evaluate land and soil and to make decisions when faced with soil related issues that affect agricultural production. Overall the Ag soils team placed 26th out of 30 teams. Trent Platfoot placed the highest individually at 106th out of more than 200 participants with a score of 460.

The Urban Soils team was made up of Kasey Copeland, Lauren Metz, Erynn Sosby and Christen Ware. Senior Lauren Metz placed the highest individually at 21 out of 130 participants with a score of 596.
