Small plane lands in tree

MCCALL, Idaho (AP) — Officials say a small plane crash landed on top of a tree in Idaho, and a firefighter with tree removal experience climbed up the tree to rescue the pilot.

The fire department in the resort town of McCall said pilot John Gregory was not hurt in the Monday night crash.

McCall Fire Capt. Brandon Swain says Gregory was trying to land at the McCall Airport when the plane started to lose power.

Gregory tried to divert into a field but crashed into the 60-foot tree. Images show the plane stuck in its upper branches.

Firefighter Randy Acker owns a tree-removal company. He offered to scale the tree and brought the pilot down from it.

Officials say helicopters may be used to remove the plane from the tree.
