SIDNEY — Police arrested a man at his home Monday morning and seized cocaine and marijuana that had been packaged for sale.

At 7:40 a.m., investigators and officers from the Sidney and Piqua Police departments served a narcotics search warrant at 635 Linden Ave. They arrested JaJuan E. Jones, 28, of that address, Sidney Police Capt. Jerry Tangeman said. He was charged with one count of trafficking in cocaine, a fourth-degree felony, and one count of trafficking of marijuana, a fifth-degree felony.

Police used tactical officers to execute the warrant because they deemed the situation constituted an “elevated risk” due to Jones’ arrest history.

According to his arrest history listed on the Shelby County Jail website, Jones has been in the local jail numerous times since 2009. Charges included aggravated burglary, theft and assault, among others.

During the search, investigators recovered several unit doses of cocaine and marijuana that were packaged for sale. In addition, police seized about $800.

“This warrant execution is a continuing effort by the Sidney Police Department to combat drug abuse and drug trafficking in Sidney,” Tangeman said. “Information resulting in this warrant was derived in part from concerned citizens.” Citizens who have any information about drug activity are asked to contact the Sidney Police Department at 937-498-8777 or Crime Stoppers at 937-492-8477 (TIPS).
