Monnins celebrate golden year

RUSSIA — Betty and Lyndon Monnin, of Russia, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by visiting three islands during a 10-day vacation in Hawaii in February 2016.

Lyndon and the former Betty cooper were married May 14, 1966, in the St. Remy Church in Russia. The Rev. Joseph Wolfer performed the ceremony. Witnesses were matron of honor Becky Simon, bridesmaids Bonnie Cooper, sister of the bride, Mary (Monnin) Poor, niece of the bridegroom, and Jane Simon, best man Don Monnin, brother of the bridegroom, and groomsmen Kermit Monnin, Dennis Monnin and Richard Monnin, all brothers of the bridegroom.

Lyndon is the son of the late Bertha and Norbert Monnin. He has a living brother, Richard Monnin, of Russia, and three living sisters, June Young, of Sidney, Carol Dunkel, of Russia, and Shirley Simons, of Versailles. Four other brothers, John, Kermit, Dennis and Don, and one other sister, Emily Grilliot, are deceased.

Betty is the daughter of the late Maxine and Floyd Cooper, She has a living brother, Ralph Cooper, of Indianapolis, Indiana. Another brother, Daniel Cooper, and a sister, Bonnie Cooper, are deceased.

The Monnins have two sons and a daughter-in-law, Terry and STefanie Monnin, of Versailles, and Scott Monnin, of Russia. They have five grandchilden.

Betty retired from Clopay Corp. Lyndon retired from Dayton Door Sales.

Betty enjoys reading, birdwatching and working with flowers. Lyndon enjoys gardening. They both enjoy following their grandchildren’s sports activities, riding their Harleys and NASCAR.
