CLIFTON — The Legendary Lights of Clifton Mill, located in Clifton, has been nominated for USA Today’s 2018 10 Best Readers’ Choice travel awards for Best Public Holiday Lights Display.

Voting is open through Dec. 10 at noon. The 10 winning displays (of the 20 nominated) will be announced on www.10best.com, Dec. 21. People can vote once per day at https://www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-public-holiday-lights-display/.

Legendary Lights of Clifton Mill, the only Ohio nominee, boasts close to 4 million lights and has been illuminating the holiday season for 31 years. The holiday installation takes three months and includes illuminating the mill, the gorge, the riverbanks, trees, bridges and 100-foot “waterfall.” A switch turns all the lights on at once, transforming night into a fantastical winter wonderland which includes Miniature Village, a Santa Claus Museum, toy collection and a synchronized lights and music show that features the old covered bridge.

The season kicks off tonight, Friday, Nov. 23, when Ohio Governor-Elect Mike DeWine ceremoniously will switch the lights on that evening.
