ORLANDO, Fla. — Three teams of the United Tumbling Academy, a cheerleading training facility in Sidney, have been selected to compete in one of the nation’s most prestigious cheerleading competitions for small gyms.

During the D2 Summit, today and Sunday, area residents can watch live streaming of United’s Senior Venom team at 9:10 a.m., today, at Varsity.com. The junior Poison team will compete, Sunday, at 12:21 p.m. The youth Hiss team will compete, Sunday, at 1:24 p.m. There is a fee to subscribe to the streaming.

The D2 Summit is at Walk Disney World Resort’s ESPN Wide World of Sports and will conclude Sunday. Gyms that compete in Division 2 train fewer than 125 athletes annually. More than 800 teams comprise this year’s competition.

“Teams competing at the D2 Summit must receive a bid at a prior competition to be eligible to participate, said Brian Elza, co-general manager and vice president of sales for Varsity All Star. “That’s what makes the D2 Summit so rewarding for competitors. if they don’t climb their way to the top throughout their season, they won’t make it to the Summit.”
