SIDNEY — Phillip Erbaugh is the featured artist in Gateway Arts Council’s gallery at 216 N. Miami Ave.
Erbaugh’s show, “Big and Bold,” will run to Jan. 5. There will be an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m., Dec. 15. One name will be drawn at the opening reception to receive a Phillip Erbaugh painting of the winner’s choice. The lucky person must be present at the reception to win.
Exhibit hours are weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free to the reception and to the exhibit.
Erbaugh was raised and still lives in the same house in Brookville. He earned his Bachelor of Science from Manchester College in art education in 1976. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Wright State University in painting and drawing in 1981. He has studied with Pam Newell, Mary Ann Davis, Ray Hassard, Wyatt LaGrand and Joshua Been.
Erbaugh has won numerous awards in local, regional and national shows, most notably Best of Show at the Preble County Fine Arts Center “Sacred Spaces” art competition; the Anne Belle Henthorne Merit award at the 113th juried show at the Richmond Art Museum; first place in Preble County Fair Scene art competition; honorable mentions at both the Rosewood Art Galleries’ The View” and the Cincinnati Art Club’s “View Point 45” national show; a purchase aware at the 117th juried show at the Richmond Art Museum; and best of show at the Art Association of Randolph County 2017 art competition.
He has had solo exhibitions at the Pump House Gallery in Chillicothe; Preble County Fine Arts Center, in Eaton; Manchester University in North Mancheter, Indiana; Anna Blair Gallery, Greenville; Reid Hospital, Richmond, Indiana; and The Depot Gallery, Union City, Indiana.
