SIDNEY — The Ohio Supreme Court has appointed Shelby County Probate and Juvenile Judge Jeffrey J. Beigel to its Commission on Technology and the Courts.

The commission actively works to identify technology trends and solutions to meet the needs of Ohio’s court systems.

The appointment comes as he completes the Ohio Supreme Court’s one-year New Judge Training Program. The program includes extensive education and mentoring for new judges.

“The program is very thorough and extremely valuable,” said Beigel.

“It’s been a very busy first year. We’ve been successful with the transition in both our probate and juvenile divisions and are happy with how well we’ve continued to serve the community. The goal is always to do better,” he said.

“Over the next few years we’ll be looking hard at expanding available programs to make sure our children have a real opportunity to become successful adults. We also expect to expand online services and further improve our award winning probate department.“

Beigel was appointed as Shelby County probate and juvenile judge by Ohio Gov. John Kasich after an extensive selection process to fill the vacancy created by Judge William Zimmerman’s election to the Third District Court of Appeals.
