Sidney City Schools and the Shelby County United Way will team up again to host the second annual Fall Sports Kickoff starting Thursday night at Sidney Memorial Stadium.

The money raised from admission will benefit the United Way.

It starts Thursday night with the Fort Loramie High School football team and new head coach Whit Parks taking on Dayton Ponitz in the final preseason scrimmage for both teams. It starts at 7 p.m.

Then on Friday, Sidney will take on Dayton Chaminade, also at 7 p.m. in its final preseason action.

On Saturday, the Sidney boys soccer team will take on Indian Lake in the official season opener, with the junior varsity game beginning at 5:30, followed by the varsity game.

Also on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m., the Fort Loramie, Lehman and Sidney junior high football teams will scrimmage.

The Sidney Vespa Quarterback Club will be selling chicken dinners on Friday. Dinners are $7 with proceeds going towards feeding both Sidney and Chaminade teams and coaches.

Chicken dinners can be pre-purchased from the Vespa Club and also the Sidney Football Moms. The dinners can be picked up at the stadium between 3 and 8 p.m. You can also purchase the dinners Friday evening at the concessions stand until they are gone.

A donation of five dollars is good for the entire weekend.
