FORT LORAMIE — The Russia High School class of 1957 reunited, Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at Morrie’s Landing at Lake Loramie to celebrate the 60th anniversary of their graduation.
“When we were in the first grade, we had 31 in the class. We graduated 23 and 18 are still alive,” said Ed Borchers, of Russia. Sixteen of those graduates and 14 guests attended the reunion, Friday. 2 of the Class were not able to attend. (Madonna Cohee & Pat Howe)
They enjoyed a buffet dinner and a PowerPoint presentation that included photos of the class in each year of schooling, grades 1 through 12 and photos of their 15 previous reunions.
“The organizers asked each class member for a picture of his or her current family,” Borchers said. As each family photo was shown, the appropriate classmate stood to talk about children, gradchildren and great-children.
“Each talked about their families and what they’re doing,” Borchers said. The party-goers then spent time socializing.
“We heard stories about what happened during school. Some were embellished a little,” Borchers laughed.
In addition to Borchers, classmates attending were Leola (Meyer) Hoying, Lucy (Sonderman) Fullenkamp, Dave York, and Augie Cordonnier, all of Russia; Connie (Monnier) Hoehne and Larry Hoehne, of Newport; JoAnn (Cordonnier) Covelli and Phyllis Barga) Eichelbarger, of Sidney; John Francis, of Greenville; Ruth (Schwartz) Neargardner, of Frenchtown; Rita (Gephrey) Ehlers, of North Star; Carolyn (Monnin) Mescher, of Rossburg; Ray Guillozet, of Troy, Guy Monnin, of Tipp City; and John Cordonnier, of Kettering.
