KETTLERSVILLE — Removal of the bell from the old town hall and loaning of the school arch were among items discussed at the recent meeting of Kettlersville Village Council.

Councilwoman Betty Ike was still looking for a contractor to remove the housing/roof in order for the bell to be removed from the old town hall, according to the meeting minutes. The building owner is OK with removing the bell whenever the work is scheduled; the village will notify him of the removal date.

Mayor Eric Kaminsky drafted an agreement to loan the old school arch to Bill Elsass. After review, council requested a clause be added that the arch is borrowed as is, with no repair or work permitted on it.

No update was available on distribution of green house number signs by the Van Buren Township Fire Department. The mayor was to follow up on the matter.

Alley repairs by the Well Association are ongoing. Completed were street sweeping, light repair on Kettlersville Road, and Steinke Metal Fabricating executed a lease for another year.

South Street work will be completed by Freisthler Paving this fall. Fiscal Officer Linda Miller has emailed a request to Shelby County Engineer Bob Geuy for release of permissive license fee funds for the South Street project.

In other business:

• The mayor was to follow up on a nuisance complaint about the general store.

• There was no update on finding someone to hang flags in the village; the mayor provided a cost figure to rent a scissor lift.

• Miller will not be attending fiscal officer training this year.

• The mayor was to clarify with Randy Wentz if a building permit is required for improvements to a village residence. Also, the sidewalk needs to be repaired at the same residence. Miller was to provide the village sidewalk ordinance at the next meeting.

• Council passed a resolution accepting the tax amounts and rates as determined by the county auditor.
