MINSTER — Melonie and Donald Heffner, of Minster, formerly of Piqua and Houston, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in June on a trip through the South for visits with family.

Donald and the former Melonie Ann Michael were married May 6, 1966, in the New Hope Evangelical United Brethren Church in Sidney. The Rev. Harry C. Sherry performed the ceremony. Witnesses were Donna Jean Fuerstenau, sister of the bride, and Robert L. Maxwell.

Don is the son of the late Levene and Lawson Heffner. He has a living sister, Norma Williamson, of Florida. Two other sisters, Pat Miller and Beverly Baker, are deceased.

Melonie is the daughter of the late Verna and Don Michael. She has a sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Mark Fuerstenau, of Mount Cory.

The Heffners are the parents of a daughter, Julie Anne Heffner, of Piqua, and a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Jennee (Hickle) Heffner, of Villa Rica, Georgia. They have two living granddaughters. Another granddaughter is deceased.

Don retired after 30 years of service at BF Goodrich in Troy and six years at Dickman Supply in Sidney. Melonie retired after 20 years as a private duty nurse and five years as owner of a daycare business.

The Heffners enjoy life on the lakefront. Don is in his 61st year of singing with the Miami-Shelby Melodymen Chorus and enjoys watching old movies on the computer and visiting neighbors on his golf cart. Melonie enjoys working in the yard, watching birds and squirrels at their feeders and reading.
