Shermans mark 50 years

RUSSIA — Marilyn and Richard “Rich” Sherman, of Russia, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, Oct. 7, 2017, at a Mass in the St. Remy Catholic Church in Russia and a dinner with family and members of the wedding party.

Richard and the former Marilyn Pleiman were married, Oct. 7, 1967, in the St. Remy Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Wolfer performed the ceremony on a beautiful, sunny fall day. Witnesses were matron of honor Rita Utz, sister of the bride; best man John Sherman, cousin of the bridegroom; attendants Marcy Kuhn and Ruth Pleiman, sisters of the bride, Marlene Jarboe, sister of the bridegroom, Orville Watercutter, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, and Ken Voisard; flower girl Lynn Sutherly, niece and godchild of the bride; and ring bearer David Guillozet, nephew and godson of the bridegroom. The couple honeymooned in the Pocono Mountains. They had met at Brucken’s following a high school basketball game in 1964.

Rich is the son of the late Eulena and August Sherman. He has a living sister and two brothers-in-law, Marlene and Jeff Jarboe, of Battleground, Indiana, and Orville “Bud” Watercutter, of Fort Loramie. Another sister, Jeanette Watercutter, is deceased.

Marilyn is the daughter of the late LaVera and August Pleiman. She has two living brothers and three sisters-in-law, John and Elaine Pleiman, of Tipp City, Tom and Chris Pleiman, of Greenville, and Ruth Pleiman, of Fort Loramie; and three living sisters and two brothers-in-law, Marcy and Pat Kuhn, of Sun City Center, Florida, Rita and Mike Utz, of Fort Loramie, and Ruth Pleiman, of Russia. Three brothers and a sister-in-law, James Pleiman, Donald Pleiman, and Gene and Mary Pleiman are deceased.

The Shermans have a daughter, Julie Ann Sherman, of Indianapolis, Indiana, and two sons and daughters-in-law, Darryl and Heidi Sherman, and Andy and Jessy Sherman, all of Russia. They have seven grandchildren.

Marilyn worked for NCR in Dayton and retired from Clopay Corp. in Russia. Rich retired from Stolle/Norcold after 34 years of service.

They attend St. Remy Catholic Church.

Marilyn enjoys knitting and quilting. Rich enjoys golfing and watching their grandchildren’s sporting events. They both enjoy traveling and camping.
