Discovery Riders to hold volunteer training

ZANESFIELD — Discovery Riders will hold volunteer training on May 29, from 3 to 5 p.m.

Previous horse experience is not required; all new volunteers who attend volunteer training will learn the ins and outs of helping, including how to properly groom, tack up, and lead a horse.

Participation of experienced volunteers is needed, as well, and those interested can help teach those who have less experience. These volunteers will learn how to side-walk along with clients and the proper handholds that help them feel secure and stay focused during class time.

Opportunities are also available for those who wish to have less hands-on work with the horses. Opportunities are available to volunteer for feeding the horses, tidying the barns, cleaning stalls, mowing the lawn, landscaping, painting, and filing, among other things.

To fill out a volunteer application, visit the organization’s website, at discoveryriders.org, or email [email protected].
