Wilson Health to host grief support group

SIDNEY — Wilson Health will offer a pregnancy and child loss grief support group beginning on Thursday, June 6, from 6 until 7:30 p.m., and will meet the first Thursday of every month following.

The July meeting date will be held the second Thursday of the month to accommodate the Independence Day holiday.

The group will meet on Wilson Health’s main campus, located at 915 W. Michigan St. Visitors may use the hospital’s main entrance and turn left for the nursing conference room.

The support group is in collaboration with Rachel’s Gift (www.rachelsgift.org), a non-profit organization who offers compassionate and professional support after pregnancy or child loss.

Rachel’s Gift was started when a Georgia mother lost her baby, when she was 8 months pregnant, in a car accident. She felt there were not many resources to help her cope, so she began Rachel’s Gift to help families through the grieving process of losing their child.

All groups are facilitated by qualified counselors and social workers with many years of experience in their field of expertise.

Wilson Health’s support group is facilitated by Wilson Health Home Care and Hospice Chaplain Angela Barfield, and is open to the public.

All of the support groups are open to parents, grandparents, extended family, and even friends who would like to gain insight on better ways to be supportive.

To be sensitive to others in the group, children and babies are not allowed to attend.

Registration is requested, but not required.
