FL resident complains to council

FORT LORAMIE — The Fort Loramie Village Council heard complaints from a resident during its regular meeting, Feb. 12.

Mike Simon voiced concerns about juveniles ringing his doorbell during the night, damaging his property and knocking on his windows. He asked for documentation of what council has done to alleviate the problem, and he asked the council to initiate a curfew.

The council will convene a public meeting, Feb. 26, at 8 p.m., to discuss the possiblity of a curfew.

In routine business during the Feb. 12 meeting, the council:

• Heard a report by the Police and Safety Commitee about going back to having two full-time police officers — the chief and another officer — to cover the first and second shifts of law enforcement in the village and contracting with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office to cover third shift. The committee awaits a contract to consider from the sheriff’s office.

• Heard a report by the Parks Committee that blocks for a concession stand in Redskin Park are under consideration, that it would like to start a softball league beginning May 3 and that donations in support of the park total almost $1 million.

• Approved and adopted the updated countywide natural hazards mitigation plan prepared by the Shelby county Emergency Management Agency.

• Approved the establishment of a permanent fund through which to account for funds donated to the village for specific purposes.

• Approved fiscal year 2018 appropriations.

• Authorized the village administrator to use an Internet auction to dispose of certain utility equipment owned by the village.

• Voted to install street lights on Louis Street.

• Contracted with Choice One to complete a speed limit study on East Park Street at a cost of $1,900.

• Set a capital asset threshold of $1,000, which requires the village to keep a running record of any equipment valued at more than $1,000.

• Approved a policy concerning credit card use by village employees.

• Moved into executive session to discuss the sale of property.
