Kiwanians recognized

SIDNEY — The Sidney Kiwanis Club recently recognized members for extraordinary service during the last year.

Merrill Asher was named Committee Chairman of the Year. Asher was instrumental for fund drives and logistical and personnel support for events, especially sponsorship drives, the annual pancake breakfast, the barbecue chicken fry and adopt-a-highway.

Jessica Guillozet was named Kiwanian of the Year. She was instrumental in planning and implementation of the Sidney Kiwanis Akion Club and participated in several projects, including dances, gift baskets, watering flowers on the courtsquare, the farmers market, and Julia Lamb field.

John Coffield received the banner that designates his being the lieutenant governor at the state level.

Scott Barr, executive director of the Shelby County United Way, presented information about the United Way’s current funding drive.
