Boys State will be at Miami University, Oxford, June 11-18. It is an education program exposing students to state, county and local government, where each participant becomes a part of the operation of a mythical 51st state.
Founded in 1936, the American Legion Boys State program in Ohio is the largest in the nation, with more than 1,300 boys attending annually. Post 217 Chairman Chuck Craynon said that these young men will become more familiar with government through a nonpartisan, objective educational approach. Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement, assemblies, a band, a newspaper, a bank and recreational activities.
