Church prepares for annual Autumn Leaves Luncheon

SIDNEY — Members of Sidney First United Methodist Church are preparing for the 33rd annual Autumn Leaves Luncheon and Bake Sale. The event will be held Tuesday, Oct. 6, in the fellowship hall of the church, 320 E. Poplar St.

This year’s luncheon will have one serving, at noon. The menu will be a salad buffet, rolls, muffins and beverage, with Johnny Appleseed cake for dessert. In place of the usual style show, there will be live entertainment this year.

The Sweet Shop will be open before and after the luncheon. People may purchase homemade baked goods, home-grown produce, and a limited supply of traditional apple dumplings that are made by church members. Because dumplings go quickly, it’s wise to order them ahead of time, event organizers said.

Tickets for the luncheon cost $8. The dumplings are $3 for one or $9 for four. Tickets and dumplings are now available for purchase at the church office Monday through Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. and Sunday morning before and after each service until Oct. 4.

Anyone who orders dumplings may pick them up at the church Oct. 4 from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Only a limited supply of dumplings will be available in the Sweet Shop, so early orders are encouraged.

All proceeds from this event go to mission projects local and worldwide.
