NEW BREMEN – When Marcus Overman becomes the next New Bremen high school principal August 1, he returns to his hometown with a family tradition of serving the educational community there.

He said watching his father, former New Bremen teacher and Superintendent Howard Overman, interact with his students inspired him to go into teaching as well.

Overman said that this personal experience, plus his own passion for math led him to go into teaching, getting his bachelor’s degree from the University of Dayton in Middle School and Math and a masters degree and principal’s license at Wright State University. He was hired in 2016 as the Fort Recovery High School principal.

Having graduated from New Bremen High School in 2007 and still a homeowner there, he said he is excited to begin serving a community with which he already has familiar ties and direct experiences, such as his eldest child starting kindergarten there in the fall.

Overman said he enjoyed his tenure at Ft. Recovery schools and thanked them for the opportunity to serve.
