SIDNEY — Shelby County Treasurer Linda Meininger has filed her petition to continue to serve the citizens of Shelby County as treasurer. She will appear on the ballot in the March 2016 Democratic primary election.

Meininger followed in her father Gerald Billings’s footsteps, who many years before her served as Shelby County treasurer. Meininger began her career in 1985 as a deputy treasurer under Treasurer Jolene Aselage. She was promoted to chief deputy treasurer in 1993 under then-Treasurer Mary Ellen Allenbaugh. She became Shelby County treasurer in 2003, a position she still holds today.

Meininger currently serves on the Shelby County Board of Tax Revision, Shelby County Budget Commission, is a member of the Kiwanis, Moose and Elks lodges, serves on the CASA board, and was a recent board member for the Sidney-Shelby County YMCA.

Meininger and her late husband, Marvin, have four children, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

“I would be very proud to continue to serve Shelby County and all of the taxpayers moving forward,” said Meininger. “The county can be very proud that it is moving in the right direction. We have made many clear improvements.

“I first began my career with the county treasurer’s office in 1985. I look forward to another four-year term.”
