Deputies give money during traffic stops

SIDNEY — A handful of people pulled over by Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies Thursday night found themselves with a little extra money instead of a ticket.

According to the sheriff’s office, a citizen came into the office lobby Thursday and advised he wanted to give them some cards with $20 in each of them to hand out to citizens, $100 total.

The evening shift was then instructed to make traffic stops and instead of handing out tickets they handed out the cards.

The people chosen to receive the cards were those who appeared to be in need. Those stopped were given warnings for any violations.

The citizen who donated the cards and money wished to remain anonymous.
