Morgan wins holiday flower show

SIDNEY — Nancy Morgan, of Sidney, took Best in Show honors at Rainbow Gardeners’ recent Christmas Flower Show at Dorothy Love Retirement Community.

The show featured nearly 40 artistic floral arrangements in 10 categories, all of which were designed by club members. The judge was Ohio Association of Garden Clubs Marian Moeckel, of the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs.

Morgan also won the People’s Choice award for an all-white arrangement in a pearl vase.

Guests were able to view each of the arrangements, vote for their favorites and become eligible for a door prize. Paul Filbrun, of Sidney, won the door prize.

Guests also purchased a variety of Christmas-related items at a holiday boutique.

Moeckel named category winners in the show, which was themed, “Masterpieces of the Garden,” as follows:

Lights of Broadway, Carol Braun, of Anna; The Art of Landscaping, Morgan; Beauty of the Winter Season, Mary Lou Overton; Culinary Arts, Julie Gilardi; Dance Rhythm, Morgan; The Art of Children’s Play, Ann Heeley; Nature’s Beauty, Marlene Crusey; The Art of Music, Marie Theis; The Art of Storytelling, Teresa Freisthler; The Art of Song, Morgan, all of Sidney.
