SIDNEY — A public Veterans Day ceremony, coordinated by Shelby County Veterans Services, will take place on the courtsquare in Sidney, Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, at 11 a.m. — the 100th anniversary of the armistice that ended World War I, thought then to be the war to end all wars.

Sunday’s event will feature Adam Batchelder as master of ceremonies. Carl Wical will give the invocation and benediction.

The national anthem will be sung. Amvets members will place memorial wreaths. Shelby County Commissioner Tony Bornhorst and Sidney Mayor Mike Barhorst will offer remarks.

The keynote speaker will be Jim Hall. A rifle salute will be made by the American Legion Post 217 firing squad and taps, played by the Sidney High School Band, will close the service.
