SIDNEY — Fire damaged a house on Millcreek Road Wednesday evening, but the occupants escaped unharmed.

Lockington Fire Chief Jon Adams said Thursday the cause of the fire at 10841 Millcreek Road was “undetermined,” although “careless smoking” was the possible cause. “We would ask people to be careful,” he said.

Adams said the home’s two occupants got out uninjured, although the rescue squad took a woman to the hospital so she could refill her medications.

“The fire was contained to the contents of the living room,” Adams said. Most of the residents’ belongings sustained heat and smoke damage, he said. He said the house is repairable.

Shelby County Auditor’s Office property records list Jack L. Leffler and Dale E. Leffler as the owners of the property.

Firefighters were called to the house about 6:45 p.m. In addition to Lockington, firefighters from Fort Loramie, Sidney, Port Jefferson and Houston responded, along with Houston Rescue.
