COLUMBUS — Tim Everett, of Sidney, was recognized recently by the Ohio Fair Managers Association for outstanding service to the Shelby County Fair.

Everett was one of 54 individuals and organizations from throughout the state who were nominated for the Director’s Award for Innovation and Excellence. The association recognized all nominees as it named the six winners, who were not from Shelby County, during its recent convention.

Shelby County Fair Secretary Jerry Schaffner had nominated Everett for the award.

“Tim has served on the board of directors for Shelby County since 1990,” Schaffner wrote. “During his first few years, he helped in the erection of a new 150-foot by 290-foot livestock complex. In 1997, Tim was elected president of the Shelby County Agricultural Society,” a position he held until a few weeks ago.

During his tenure, Everett oversaw the removal of old horse barns and the replacement of one, the construction of a new horse arena and judges stand, a new livestock show arena and new bathroom and shower facilities on the fairgrounds.

“Many improvements have been accomplished … because of Tim’s leadership,” Schaffner wrote.

Everett was presented a certificate by Ohio Department of Agriculture Director David T. Daniels.
