SIDNEY — The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash in which Sidney man died of his injuries Monday evening, April 1.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 6:54 p.m. at the intersection of Hardin-Wapakoneta Road and Mason Road.

According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, a preliminary investigation indicated a 2002 Dodge Intrepid, driven by Kaitlyn E. Graber, 18, of Sidney, and occupant Dustin T. Adkins, 24, also of Sidney, were westbound on Mason Road, approaching the intersection of Hardin-Wapakoneta Road.

A 2011 Ford F-150, driven by Jason D. Foster, 44, of Sidney, was southbound on Hardin-Wapakoneta Road approaching the intersection of Mason Road. The driver of the Dodge failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection, and traveled into the path of the Ford. The Ford struck the Dodge on the passenger side, causing the Ford to slide off the southwest corner of the intersection and overturn before coming to rest on its wheels. The Dodge also slid off the southwest corner of the intersection and, while in a spin, ejected the passenger.

Graber and Adkins were transported by medics to Wilson Health for their injuries. Adkins was ultimately flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital and later passed away while in surgery. Foster reported having no injuries.

Assisting at the scene was Fort Loramie Fire Department and Fort Loramie Rescue Squad.

The crash remains under investigation.
