SIDNEY — Scott Barr, Shelby County United Way president and CEO, has announced the 2019 Campaign chair will be Dean Weinert.

“Dean is a long time active supporter of the United Way, our values and the impact programming has in our community. I am excited to work with Dean this fall,” said Barr.

Weinert is currently the president of Mutual Federal Savings Bank, where he has served for nearly 10 years. He has been active in numerous community activities, including a board member and past president of the Sidney-Shelby County YMCA, the current chairman of the Sidney-Shelby County YMCA Foundation Board, a current member and past president of the Sidney Rotary Club, a current board member and member of the Executive Committee for the Better Business Bureau of Dayton-Miami Valley, a current board member and past president of the Community Housing Network, Inc., a current board member of the Edison State Community College Foundation, and a member of the Sidney-Shelby County Chamber of Commerce.

“I have been indirectly involved with the annual Shelby County United Way Campaign each year since I have been in Sidney, particularly to ensure the participation of our bank and of our employees in this important program that in many ways represents the very basic fabric of our community,” said Weinert.

“Following my historical observations of the campaigns of several other cities during my banking career, I am still absolutely astounded at the generosity of the people here in Shelby County and the immeasurable impact upon people’s lives that has resulted from our United Way efforts. Giving back to the community has always played a major role in my life, and I truly feel very honored to have the opportunity in this capacity to directly assist in hopefully generating another successful year for this vital campaign in serving the great people of Shelby County,”

Shelby County United Way is celebrating 62 years of serving the community. The 2019 campaign goal is $1,340,000 with the campaign theme, Unite for Change. The campaign will kick off on September 12th at The Palazzo in Botkins.
