Tom and Angela Martin Family Fund established

SIDNEY — A community-minded couple has found another way to give back. The Tom and Angela Martin Fund was established recently at the Community Foundation of Shelby County.

“We wanted to make an impact on our community with building permanent funds that provide resources for the needs of today and tomorrow,” said the couple. “With our fund, we would love to help the special needs children in the county, support programs for all children and strengthen the city where we live and work.”

The Martins created a donor advised fund, a charitable fund that enables them and their family to stay involved in the grants awarded from the fund’s assets. The popularity of donor advised funds has grown in the past decade because they allow flexibility in the disbursing charitable dollars. The Martin’s fund is intended to be long term and build a source of support for the community’s future needs, as well as today’s projects and causes.

“We love and appreciate Shelby County and we want to give something back to the community,” they added. Tom and Angela grew up in Sidney and are graduates of Sidney High School.

The Community Foundation administers 77 long-term donor advised funds and short-term Gift Accounts. For information on the Foundation, go to www.commfoun.com.
