NEWPORT — Cynthian Township voters re-elected two trustees in Tuesday’s general election.

Joseph Benanzer, of Sidney, and Robert Siegel, of Fort Loramie, will continue to serve the citizens of Cynthian Township. Benanzer was elected with 274 votes and Siegel pulled 335 votes in the unofficial results of Tuesday’s election. The third candidate, John B. Puckett, received 159 votes

Benanzer enjoys what he does as a trustee for Cynthian Township and said he appreciates the support he’s received from the citizens of Cynthian Township.

“I’m looking forward to trying to keep up the good work that we’re doing, and trying to save money any which way we can,” Benanzer said.

Siegel said that he was floored by the number of votes he received in the election, and that it feels great to be able to continue to serve the people of Cynthian Township.

“I must have a lot of support and a lot of backing of the township,” Siegel said. “I feel honored. I’m really blessed to have that much support in the township.”

Siegel is most looking forward to getting back to serving the community, the township, and making sure everything runs smoothly.

The results of the election will be certified on Nov. 15 by the Shelby County Board of Elections.
