Training set to be a Healthy U Leader

0

SIDNEY — An opportunity is available to make a difference in your community by training to be a Healthy U leader. Training is offered by the Area Agency on Aging on June 16, 17, 23, and 24. Leaders are then certified to facilitate the evidence-based workshops that help people develop the skills and coping strategies they need to manage symptoms and maintain active and fulfilling lives.

The four-day June training prepares leaders to present the Healthy U/Chronic Disease Self-Management Program, and two-day cross-training in the diabetes and chronic pain self-management programs will be offered to interested active leaders at a later date. Co-leaders are paid a small stipend to facilitate the workshops by using clearly prepared presentation materials—all of which are provided. In this supportive, small group environment, individuals are empowered to view how their own decisions can have a positive impact on their health.

Interested leader candidates may contact Ann Finnicum at 937-341-3020, 800-258-7277, or [email protected]. Visit the agency’s website (www.info4seniors.org/news) for more information and to obtain an application. Application deadline is May 18, 2016.
