SIDNEY — The Ohio State University Alumni Association of Shelby County recently held its annual raffle ticket drawing at the Sidney American Legion. Winners gave donations to the club’s scholarship fund benefitting local students attending OSU. Each winner will receive two tickets to a football game this season.

The winners are Lisa Beigel (Bowling Green game), Kim Maus (Tulsa), Renee Davis (Rutgers), Starlett Clement (Indiana), Tom Sprague (Northwestern), Mark Harrod (Nebraska) and Dawn McGuire (Michigan).

Eleven graduates of high schools in Sidney and Shelby County were honored at the meeting with a Freshman Send-off sponsored by the club. Each will be freshman at The Ohio State University this fall. They made Buckeye necklaces, played trivia and introduced themselves to the club announcing planned majors and where they will be living on campus. A tailgate meal was provided for the future Buckeyes and their families. It was a great opportunity for them to share information with each other and to hear stories from alumni. The evening concluded with the tradition singing of “Carmen Ohio”.
