SIDNEY – A Sidney man is in the intensive care unit at Miami Valley Hospital after an accident Thursday around 1 p.m.

Robert Puthoff was traveling south on Interstate 75 when his Honda Silver Wing scooter traveled off the right side of the road and into a ditch near Ohio 47 in Sidney.

He was taken by CareFlight from the scene. A report on his condition was not available from the hospital before press time.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of the crash, but say it appears it was a one-vehicle accident. However, they have not been able to speak to Puthoff to see what happened.

The scooter he was riding has a top speed of 105 mph, according to Honda. The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Sidney police and firefighters responded to the scene. The highway was closed for a short time, but started moving again around 3 p.m.
