AW01 Matthew Frilling, of Botkins, gives his son Deven Frilling, 11, of DeGraff, son of Nicole Layne and step mom Brooke Frilling, a hug after sneaking up behind his son and surprising him at his Riverside Little Pirates football game in Waynesfield Saturday, Sept. 5. Frilling is in the Navy and was stationed in Bahrain. Deven hadn’t seen his dad since the middle of April and wasn’t expecting him back from over seas for another week. Deven became a little teary eyed but after a long hug he went back into a huddle with his coach and prepared for his teams first football game of the season. When Frilling got home from Bahrain he also got to meet his brand new daughter Annabelle Virginia Frilling for the first time. Annabelle Virginia was named after Brooke’s great grandmother and Matthew’s grandmother. Luke Gronneberg | Sidney Daily News
