SIDNEY — While some children enjoyed Easter egg hunts Saturday and Sunday, there are more to come that will welcome kids from throughout the area.
The one with the most eggs will be during Easter Sunday, April 16. Sidney First United Methodist Church will lead Easter services in Sidney High School, 1215 Campbell Road, beginning at 11 a.m. One service, a contemporary one, will be for adults. Another will be for children. When the services are over, at about noon, children up to sixth grade will be invited to look for 17,000 eggs on the high school lawn. There is no charge to participate.
Several other free egg hunts are scheduled for Saturday, April 15:
• Children up to sixth grade can gather candy-filled eggs on the lawn of the Church of the Nazarene, 1899 Wapakoneta Ave., April 15, at 10 a.m.
• Sidney Alive will host an Easter egg hunt on the courtsquare in downtown Sidney, April 15, at 11 a.m. Children through age 11 can participate.
• At 1 p.m. at the Anna Library, children in four age groups will be able to hunt for eggs hidded by the Anna Civic Association and the library. Activities with the Easter Bunny will follow the hunt.
• The village of New Bremen and the New Bremen New Knoxville Rotary Club have invited children up to sixth grade to hunt for eggs, April 15, at 1 p.m., in Jaycee Park in New Bremen. If the weather is bad, the hunt will take place in the New Bremen Junior High School gym.
• Children in preschool through third grade can look for Easter eggs at the Osgood American Legion hall, S. North St., Osgood, April 15 at 1 p.m.
• Botkins Community Park will be the scene of an Easter egg hunt presented by the village of Botkins, April 15, at 2 p.m. Children through age 12 are invited to look for thousands of candy-filled eggs. Eggs will also have tickets in them. The tickets can be entered into a drawing for a bicycle. Girls and boys bikes will be awarded in each of three age groups.
Pay to play
The Sidney-Shelby County YMCA, 900 Parkwood St., will host a swimming egg hunt April 15 for which there is a charge to participate. Advance registration by 5 p.m., April 14, is required. For information, call 492-9134.
Children 3 to 8 who are beginning swimmers or nonswimmers can participate from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Children whose heads wouldn’t be above water if they stood in water 4-feet deep must be accompanied in the pool by adults, one adult for each child. There will be 500 eggs for them to gather.
Children 5-12 who are intermediate or advance swimmers can participate from 11:30 a.m. to noon. There will be 1,000 eggs for them to gather.
At each session, one egg will contain a golden coin, which will be redeemable for a special prize. All other eggs will be redeemed for candy.
