SIDNEY — Gary J. Carter, magistrate of the Shelby County Common Pleas Court, recently served on a judicial panel at the fifth annual Family Law Institute, a two-day seminar for attorneys, sponsored by the Ohio State Bar Association.

Carter served on the panel with Judge Elizabeth Gill, of the Franklin County Domestic Relations Court, and Magistrate Steve McKinley, of the Richland County Court of Common Pleas. The three judicial officers spent almost two hours providing the attendees with detailed information regarding the best practices to be used when handling civil protection orders dealing with with domestic violence and stalking.

More than 100 attorneys from around the state were in attendance. Carter stated that the presentation was well-received, and that he enjoyed the “give-and-take” exchange between the panel and the audience.
