BOTKINS — A CSX Railroad employee discovered a body lying near the railroad tracks in Botkins, Sunday morning.

At 8:14 a.m., the Shelby County dispatch received a call from the employee advising that there was a male lying in the ditch next to their tracks in the 12000 block of Southland Road. Further investigation found that the location was on the CSX Railroad right of way, just south of Edgewood Street in the village of Botkins.

A preliminary investigation showed that Clint T. Walker, 39, of 15144 Amsterdam Road, Anna, was walking southbound on the tracks when he was struck and killed by a southbound train. It is unsure of the exact time Walker was struck but it was sometime after 10:30 p.m., Saturday. According to Botkins Police Chief Wayne T. Glass Jr., the train didn’t stop because the engineer didn’t realize Walker had been hit.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, CSX Rairoad police and the Botkins Police Department are continuing the investigation.

Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies and Botkins Police inspect the location where the body of Clint T. Walker, 39, of Anna, was found early Sunday morning.
